Marne Alice Grgurich

Marne Alice Babcock Grgurich, age 52, was born in 1969 in San Francisco California. After a 6-year battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully on May 30, 2021 in her home in Lakeway, Texas, surrounded by family and her dog Luna.

She is survived by her husband Philip J. Grgurich, parents Mary (Charles) Seibold of Tuscola, IL and James A.(Carol) Babcock of San Francisco, CA, siblings Amy Seibold, John (Tabatha) Seibold, Drury (Andrea) Babcock, and Alexandra Babcock, stepdaughters Sydney and Elise Grgurich, step granddaughter Camile Walsh, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, her daughter Maya Blue Grgurich, and her sister Sarah Babcock.

Marne was raised in San Francisco and in Tuscola, Illinois. A 1987 graduate of Tuscola High School, she earned a BS in Psychology from the University of Illinois in 1992 and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at San Francisco State University in 1999. She has been a speech therapist at Lake Travis ISD in Lakeway, Texas for the last 10 years, and she adored every colleague, student, and family with whom she worked. She loved traveling the world, cooking, and she was an avid reader. She was fortunate to have more adventures in her 52 years, than most people do in their lifetime!

As we reminisce about our beloved Marne, words from family and friends have touched our hearts. “She was a blessing to all who knew her.” “People admire her beauty, her strength, and her kindness.” “She was the epitome of grace, kindness, positivity, and love.” “Marne’s strength, courage, and dedication to her students were an inspiration to us all. Marne was a beautiful fighter whose fortitude shone a light from deep within her heart, and she will always be with us.”

A memorial service to celebrate Marne’s life will be held at the Tuscola United Methodist Church in Tuscola, IL on Friday June 25, 2021 from 5-7 PM, with reception to follow at Iron Horse Golf Club.
