Marilyn Bess Wright Kidd was 70 years old when the Lord called her home on September 1st 2020. She died of complications due to COPD. She died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was a graduate of Stephen F Austin High School and went to Mary Harden Baylor College before graduating with high honors from the University of Texas. She got her Master’s in Education from Louisiana Tech University where she also graduated with high honors.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, W.M “Bill” Wright and Joan Waldrop Wright as well as her brother Billy Carlton Wright.
She is survived by her husband James K. Kidd, whom she was married to for 51 years. She is also survived by her children, David Kidd, Courtney Kidd Olmstead and Collin Kidd, as well as her grandson, Ryan Kidd. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy Wright and Kay Wright of Johnson City.
Marilyn was born in Austin TX, on September 10th 1949. She married James in July of 1969 and was an Air Force wife from1971 to 1978.They then moved to Fort Worth TX in 1979. While in Fort Worth she taught at Burleson Junior High as a Drama and English teacher. She was also an active member of Southcliff Baptist Church. When James retired in 2005, they moved to Lakeway TX.
Marilyn loved being with her family and friends. She loved being a homemaker and wife to James. Some of her favorite activities were singing in the church choir, planting flowers in her garden, and taking drives with James in the country. She taught Sunday school for many years at her church. She also participated in bible studies as student and instructor. Most of all she loved spending time with family, friends and her dogs.
Services will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish in Lakeway, TX. Visitation is at 1pm Wednesday the 9th followed by the service at 2pm. Graveside service will be at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery at 3:30pm.
