Kay Warren Zinsmeyer, 54, passed away at sunrise on June 15, 2013 at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital in Houston. Kay was born on January 2, 1959, in Abilene, Texas to Sue and Jerry Warren. She attended Cooper High School and graduated from Tarleton State University. After a chance meeting on Lake Travis in the summer of 1986, Kay and John Zinsmeyer were married on February 19, 1988 and the couple spent time living in Albuquerque, New Mexico and South Florida before returning to Austin in 1991. Kay later gave birth to their daughter Callie Lauren Zinsmeyer and the family was completed with the birth of their son David Warren Zinsmeyer. Kay and John built their home in Lakeway where they have lived since 1997 and were blessed to have Callie and Dave complete their education from preschool through high school in the Lake Travis Independent School District. Kay was the epitome of selflessness as a spouse and as a mother to her children. She always placed her family before herself which made for the wonderful foundation they rest on today. Kay meant everything to John as she gave him strength and reinforced his faith during good times and bad while guiding his moral compass. She lived to be a part of any and all things Callie and Dave were interested in. Kay's appreciation of family was without limits. While she was inseparable from her mother and father Sue and Jerry Warren, sister Susan Springer, brother in-law Randy Springer and nephew Brent, she was also considered the daughter that John's parents, Herb and Lois Zinsmeyer, never had. Kay's brothers in-law Kurt, Eddie and Charlie along with wife Patti and extended families will miss Kay deeply. Kay's positive attitude and contagious joyous spirit never faltered, even when diagnosed with cancer in April of 2012. She met this new challenge with courage and an even greater faith. While a patient she continued to be a voracious caregiver to those around her, including complete strangers. Kay appreciated the simplest of things and she never took anything for granted. She loved walking the beach in Port Aransas, singing in the car, and laughing with her girlfriends. Kay enjoyed boating, snow skiing, scuba diving, camping and fishing mainly because it placed her in the beautiful settings that God created and gave her the opportunity to share them with the dear friends and family she loved. Kay was preceded in death by her father Jerry Thomas Warren. She is survived by her husband John Harland of 25 years, daughter Callie Lauren, son David Warren, her mother Marilyn Sue Warren, and sister Susan Springer.
