Judith Anne Stell

Judith Anne Stell was born on Friday, June 13, 1947 in Houston, Texas. She passed away in Lakeway Texas on Monday, October 26, 2015. Judy was the youngest daughter of Manson and Elsie Stell. She is survived by her sister, Karen Griffith, her niece, Kristina Grad and her nephew, Robert Leonard; their spouses, Jesse Griffith, Darin Grad, and Kelly Leonard; their children Katie Grad, Gage Leonard, Ryann Leonard and Brogan Leonard.

Judy, her sister and their parents moved to Sao Paulo, Brasil in 1948 where they spent 17 wonderful years. She attended Sao Paulo Graded School and after graduation spent two years at Texas Tech in Lubbock.

She had a most fabulous and impressive career. She was membership director at Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas for several years and later moved to Rosewood Hotels and while there began her career as Spa Director when she opened the Spa at the Crescent Hotel. She was Spa Director at The Greenhouse in Arlington, Texas; Executive Director at Norwich Inn in Connecticut; Spa Director for 7 years at the Greenbrier in West VIrginia; Spa Director at Chateau Elan, Hilton Sandestin, Ballantyne Resort & Spa and at the Lansdowns Resort in Virginia. In 2007, Judy moved to Cary, North Carolina and opened the spa at the Umstead Hotel & Spa. She remained with the Umstead until her retirement in 2012 when she moved to Lakeway, Texas to be with her family.

She had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. She was generous, could keep a secret and would not judge. She was honest and strict, but fair. She loved what she did, worked hard and was proud of the results. She had many, many cats through the years - all odd, all special, all Judy. She was a good sister, a devoted friend, and loved her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Gone way too soon.
