August 30, 1938 - April 8, 2023
84 years old
James “Jim” Douglas Morgan of Dripping Springs, Texas went home to heaven on April 8, 2023, at 84 years of age. Jim was born August 30, 1938, in Brownfield, Texas to Eldon and Loretta Morgan. He married the love of his life, Sandra Carol Douglas, on September 2, 1978, in Hobbs, New Mexico. He worked for Amoco in Denver City, Texas for 30 years before retiring in 1994. Jim and Sandra lived in Denver City for 42 years before moving to Dripping Springs in October 2020 to be closer to family. Jim loved going on walks and was an avid golfer. He enjoyed going to the movies, drinking coffee with friends, driving his pickup that he proudly kept in immaculate condition, sitting on his front porch to watch the sunset, and spending time on the putting green at his new home in the hill country.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends who will remember him always for his friendly smile, his kind heart, and his ability to make us all laugh.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother and father; his daughter, Deborah; and his brother, Dale. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Morgan, of Dripping Springs and his sister, Linda Reed, of Plano, Texas. He leaves behind one stepdaughter, Tanya Loffler, of Driftwood, Texas, and her husband, Larry. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Madison Loffler and her husband, James Attra; Malissa Felton and her husband, Russell; and Morgan Moss. Jim was loved by his great-grandchildren, Hannah Moss, Reid Felton, and Rhodes Attra as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank The Auberge at Bee Cave, St. Gabriel’s Hospice (especially Hannah, Jessica, Luis, Pastor Rip, Mernel, and Sherri), and Lisa Clark with Swan Songs for the loving care provided to Jim. Per Jim’s wishes, a graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Denver City Memorial Park at 11:00 am. That service will be followed by a Celebration of Life at Denver City First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 12:30 pm.
