Gayle June Meier, 86, wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on September 28, 2020. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Gayle Meier was born in Davenport, Iowa on July 9, 1934, and grew up in Davenport. She married Richard Meier in 1958 and remained married to him until his death in 2003. They lived in Davenport, Iowa where they raised their three children. Their children started migrating to Texas, and in 1993 they moved to Cedar Park, Texas, to be with their children and their first grandchild. In 2001, they were blessed with their second grandchild. Her grandchildren called her “Koo Koo”.
Her husband, Dick, was a Postal Carrier and she was a housewife raising her three busy children. After she moved to Cedar Park, she decided to go to work at Luby’s cafeteria. Gayle became a common face by the regular patrons. When she would go out in the area with her family, she would come across those regular patrons who would recognize her and always strike up a friendly conversation.
She loved dogs and had many Labrador Retrievers and other breeds over the years. If you went to visit Gayle, you would always be greeted by her loving animals.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Sylvia Bormann; husband, Richard Meier; and three sisters, Mary Gayman, Gerri Jones and Etta Schroeder. Gayle is survived by her son, Steven Meier, his wife, Sylvia Meier, their son, Nicholas Meier and Steve’s daughter, Christine Meier; her daughter, Tammy Meier; and her daughter, Donna Meier Phebus and Donna’s recently deceased husband, Steve Phebus
Donations in her name may be sent to the Austin Animal Center or Austin Pets Alive.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020, between 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
