Deanna Davis-Turner, 77, of Lakeway, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2016, after repeated bouts of pneumonia. She is survived by her husband, John Turner, of Clover, Virginia; her daughter, Nina Davis, of Lakeway, Texas; her granddaughter, Monique (Nikki) Geiger, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and many cherished friends across the country. Deanna had a huge personality; she was a force of nature, and a ton of fun. She will be much missed, but she is now safely beyond all worry and care.
Born March 11, 1939, in Lexington, Missouri, to Rev. Kenneth C. Davis and Mada Lee Kroeck Davis, Deanna was raised in South Carolina. She later lived in Virginia and on Maui, Hawaii, before moving to Texas with her daughter in 2009. Deanna was a professional singer for a decade, and music was always an important part of her life. Later, she held administrative positions as payroll manager and office manager for various companies until her retirement. Then, she created unique shawls and scarves that were sold on Maui for several years. Deanna contributed her time and talents to many worthy causes over the years, particularly supporting the arts and the elderly. She remained connected to Unity Church of Maui. Recently, Deanna enjoyed volunteer work at Lake Travis Community Library. She was completely devoted to her loving feline companions, Miss Lily and Peanut.
Memorial donations may be made to a shelter Deanna and her family have long supported, 9th Life Hawaii (P. O. Box 476, Makawao, HI 96768 http://9thlifehawaii.org), or to the animal welfare charity of your choice.
