Born to Phillip and Kathleen Wheeler in 1942, Pete was the second youngest of 5 children. After a childhood spent in Milford, Michigan the family moved to a farm. At the age of 14 they moved to Pinconning, Michigan. Pete attended Michigan State University earning a bachelor's degree in 1964.
He started his career with State Farm Insurance and except for Vietnam era service in the army as a 1st Lt, spent his entire career with State Farm, retiring as a Field Executive at age 65.
Until his health began to fail, Pete was an avid golfer spending multiple days per week on the golf course with friends and his wife Ann. Pete & Ann summered in Frankfort Michigan on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan where they would welcome family and friends to their beloved summer home. Pete's family, friends, & co-workers recall his warmth, conscientiousness, and dedication to his loved ones.
Pete is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Bill and his sisters Phyllis and Sharon. He is survived by his wife Ann, his two children Christina and Craig, his sister Mary Katherine, and 6 grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
A public memorial celebrating Pete's life will be held at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home in Lakeway, Texas at 11:00 on January 28th, 2023. For those who are unable to attend, please click on the livestream link provided to attend virtually.
