Charles J. Novak

He grew up in McCurtain, Oklahoma, and graduated from McCurtain High School. At the age of 16, he entered Oklahoma State University (then Oklahoma A&M College) in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and graduated at the age of 20 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He then started a career that spanned 45 years in engineering, construction and construction management, mostly with The Williams Companies, where he was responsible for the construction of numerous oil and gas pipeline projects all over the world. He retired from The Williams Companies in 1985, after spending 7 years in Iran, 7 years in Saudi Arabia, 3½ years in Algeria, 1½ years in Brazil and 3 years in Peru building oil and gas pipelines and related infrastructure.

He is preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Virginia L. Novak, who died on February 25, 1987, and by his second wife of 20 years, Joan Chambers Novak, who died on November 10, 2010.

He is survived by one son, Andrew G. Milman, of Eguisheim, France, his daughter-in-law Meryl Milman, two granddaughters, Claire Alison Milman Monod and Bryony Milman Gaschy, and four great-grandchildren, Emile Martin Charlie Monod, Leonie Thelma Daphne Monod, Eve Marie Augustine Gaschy and Martin Paul Gaschy.

He is also survived by Rosie G. Domino, who faithfully cared for his wife, Joan, during the last several years of her life, and has been a faithful friend, employee and caregiver for Charlie since Joan's death.

He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner. He was a member of the Lakeway Church, where he served on the Board of Trustees for 9 years. He served as the Lakeway City Engineer for ten years.

The Inurnment service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Lakeway Church Memorial Gardens with Reverend Larry Colter officiating, and will be followed by a reception at the Westminster Manor Solarium at 3:30 p.m., 4100 Jackson Avenue in Austin.
