Charles (Chuck) Roy Moreland, 76, of Lakeway, Texas, died on April 12, 2018, following a brief struggle with cancer. He was born on May 2, 1941, in Houston, Texas, to Cecil and Mary Louise Moreland. He attended school in San Antonio, Texas, where he became active in scouting. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was a member of the Order of the Arrow, scouting's national honor society.
In 1958 he enrolled in The Agriculture and Mechanical College of Texas now known as Texas A&M University, graduating in 1962 with a degree in Marketing. While at A&M he was a member of Second Brigade, Company E-2, the mascot company for Reveille II. He entered A&M as an only child but left surrounded by his brothers of E-2. Over the years those relationships have stood the test of time for both he and his family..."Howdy" is their greeting of choice. While at A&M he met Beverly Wilson and they married in 1963. In honor of their 50th Wedding Anniversary they endowed the Chuck '62 and Beverly Moreland Scholarship for the Mays School of Business, to help future Aggies fulfill their dreams.
Following graduation from A&M, he served in the United States Army, both in artillery at Ft. Bliss, Texas, and infantry at Ft. Polk, Louisiana. He began his career with The Travelers Insurance Company, Employee Benefits Department in 1963. The Travelers took him to Hartford, Dallas, Lubbock, and St. Louis. Thirty-five years later, he retired to Lakeway, Texas, where golf became a daily event. His retirement years were filled with the joy of new friendships and the "fun" of living in the Lakeway community. Throughout his life he worshipped God, served his country, and loved his family unconditionally.
He is survived by Beverly, his wife of 54 years; sons Charles Scott and Kevin Roy (Sharon), and grandchildren Cade, Tim and Tiffany, and great-grandchildren, McKenna and Jack. Also special to him were his nieces, Stephanie and Christi, their husbands and children.
