Catherine Kane, 90, passed away peacefully at Christopher House surrounded by her children Friday April 10, 2015. Born on June 25, 1924 in West Haven, CT to Joseph and Catherine Kelly, "Katie", as she was affectionately referred to by her family and "Kay" by her friends, grew up in Connecticut.
On a weekend trip to the Poconos in New York State, she met Joseph Kane of Philadelphia. They married in November, 1952 and lived the early years of their marriage in Philadelphia, where daughter Patricia was born and Hamden, CT where son Michael's birth was celebrated. Joe's job later took them to St. Louis, MO and Germany where they spend three years skiing and exploring what Europe had to offer. In retirement, Kay and Joe moved to Lakeway, TX and Kay was a dedicated Nana to her Texas and Michigan grandchildren helping whenever and wherever she could. She and Joe became active members of Emmaus Catholic Parish and Kay worked tirelessly as a volunteer for St. Michael's Thrift Shoppe where she met many dear friends.
Kay is preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her parents Joseph and Catherine, her brothers Joseph, Walter, Edward, Arthur and Paul. She is survived by her children Patricia (Terrence) and Michael (Linda), her sisters Mary (George) and Regina both of Connecticut, and her adoring grandchildren Kristin (Edgar), Kevin, Jamie (Ray), Julie (fiancé Pavel) and Christopher, and many nieces and nephews.
Vigil service and visitation will be on Sunday, April 19th at 6:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish in Lakeway. On Monday, April 20th there will be a rosary at 10:15 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. both at Emmaus Catholic Parish in Lakeway.
