Alton Orville Moore

Alton Orville Moore, Jr. passed away on February 22, 2018 in Hudson Bend outside of Austin, Texas. Born in Weslaco, Texas as the third of four children, he graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School in 1957 and joined the Air Force. He later received his bachelor's degree from Pan American University, a Master's Degree from The University of Texas, and a PhD from Tulane University. He settled in the Rio Grande Valley and was a professor of Linguistics at Pan American University, a small business owner, and eventually a technology administrator for the PSJA school district. He is survived by his brother Duane of Dallas, his brother Wesley of Everett, Washington, son Alton III of Hudson Bend, daughter Michelle of Austin, son Dennis of Lakeway, and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alton Orville Moore, Sr. and Charlotte Brumble Moore, and his brother Dwight.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 4th, 2018 at 2pm at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 411 Ranch Road 620 South, Lakeway, Texas 78734. Friends and family are welcome at both the service and a reception immediately following at his daughter's house from 3-5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Travis Lion's Club, PO Box 342454, Lakeway, Texas 78734.
