Margaret Mae Seaburn Wise, age 95, of Lantana, FL, and more recently Blairsville, GA, passed away on June 2, 2023, surrounded by family after a period of declining health. Margie, as she preferred to be called, was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and great grandmother. She was of the Methodist faith.
Margie is survived by her son, Dale (Karen), of Blairsville, GA, and daughter-in-law, Debby Wise of Battle Ground, WA. She also leaves behind granddaughters, Kacey Folger, Lindsay Wise, Kayla Wise, and Shara Wise; 5 great grandchildren, Ethan Folger, Evan Folger, Turner Mitchell, Ally Mitchell, and Adam Mitchell, as well as many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Wise, Sr; two sons, Rick Wise and Dennis Wise; brother, Chuck Seaburn, and one granddaughter, Amanda Wise.
Margie was born on November 27, 1927, in Toronto, Ohio, the daughter of Warren Edward and Anna Seaburn. She lived her childhood in Sharon, Pennsylvania, and graduated high school from Sharon High School in 1945. She met the love of her life, Dale Sr. during high school. They married in 1946 in Sharon, and they lived there, raising their young children until moving to Florida in 1959, where they lived for over 60 years and raised their children there, in Lantana, Florida.
Early on, Margie was a stay-at-home mom while Dale Sr. worked to support their family. Later on, she decided to attend Palm Beach Junior College, seeking her AA degree. She then went to work for Palm Beach County school system, working as an instructional aide at Rolling Green Elementary School with her dear friend, Anita O’Donnell. They shared a special time there, investing in the students’ education, sharing the challenges, as friends. Also, while working there at the school, she met Shirley Marshall, who became her traveling buddy and close friend. Margie retired from the school system.
Margie’s pride and joy were her five granddaughters, who spent many summers at their home in Florida. They spent time together swimming in the pool, trips to Disney, and traveling extensively to Europe and many of the States. Her granddaughters say she was not your average grandmother. On her 90th birthday she and her 5 granddaughters got matching tattoos on their ankles of an owl, which was the trademark for the Wise family. She had a love for Micheal McDonald music and met him personally on her 80th birthday. She loved traveling and she and Dale Sr. visited Europe and most of the States, hitting the gambling casinos along the way. She was known for her spotless home, spring cleaning, Christmas cookies, white Zin, and taking the girls to Lantana Pizza.. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzle solver, the champion Tripoli player of the family, and a huge fan of the Miami Dolphins. She read to her granddaughters and her great grandchildren, giving books to them often. Margie was a women of strong opinions which led to some interesting conversations with friends and strangers. She was spunky and lived life to the fullest.
The celebration of life service will be held at Dorsey- E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Rd., Lake Worth, FL, on July 14, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends at 1:30 P.M. prior to the service.
