Julia was one of the sweetest,loving,and caring women that my wife and myself has ever had the privilage to know and love from all the church years that we have attended.She greeted  you with a smile and big hug every time you saw her in church ,the grocery store or any where you ran into her at.She always wanted to call me Peter after attending The Last Supper that the men's group puts on at church.That made me feel special! She was a true christian lady and is enjoying herself right now as we speak.And that is a pleasant thought.

Memorial day and nothing to do but watch old war movies and grieve.

Only a few of you ever knew Julia Marie Schmidt. She was an Irish lady, raised on a farm in Goshen, Indiana and later worked as a school teacher in Florida. She had been widowed more than 40 years, raised a son and two daughters, and kept a mother's star flag in her window for three grandchildren who were career soldiers. She also buried two newborns. Julia really loved her church and her life brought joy to many. I was the only man in the book club of my church and I asked her out to lunch on Valentine's day, 2012. You would recognize her as one of the laughing women who always danced alone at weddings and I cursed my arthritis for not letting me be her dance partner at other times.

Julia had been having asthma attacks for many months but always recovered. Most of the time these happened at home when she was alone, yet more frequently she got them when she was with me. Last Friday (May 24) she couldn't catch her breathe and then collapsed into my arms. The paramedics worked on her for about 30 minutes but I could see she was already in the arms of Jesus when they took her to Wellington Regional Hospital. Her son, Karl, moved her to JFK Memorial Hospital on Saturday and put her under the care of Hospice. She stopped breathing at 7 a.m. Sunday. She was 88, May 6.

Hug your loved ones. You never know when fate will snatch them from you.

We loved each other for more than 15 months but it seemed a lifetime. We had planned another trip to Gatlinburg for the Fall foliage. I miss her so much.

Miss Julia was one of the most amazing people I have ever met. I always told her when I get old I want to be like you. She loved and trusted the Lord with true heart. She had the biggest hugs and gave them freely and often. We had so many laughs and good times together. I got to say goodbye to her and call her Crazy Lady one more time with Kam last Saturday.   words can not express  ..Julia was like a mom.. a good friend.. a sister .. to so many ! she was very good  to listen !  articulate and very well educated lady on many subjects.. she told me she was never bored  ,well she did stay busy reading .. even with  being legally  blind ! It never stopped her from  living life  to its fullest ! I admired  her and loved her for her  openness to share her faith too ! she shared verbally and also by example !! I think she over came many hurdles in her life and did it with such grace ! I am not alone in saying I loved Miss Julia and will cherish her memory forever   .. oh I also Loved her irish poems  and crazy sayings too..and  she had so many!!!  she was a quick wit and was fun to be around  we shared many a good laugh together ! I am glad she is with Jesus and among those angels she loved so much !! I too had the pleasure of meeting Julia at Girlfriends with Compassion and the opportunity to give her a ride on 1 or 2 occasions which gave us a chance to chat.  She was a delight!!  She will be missed by many as she was greatly loved.

Julia was a wonderful woman. She was a blessing to all who knew her.Her faith was strong and her life was a witness to all that she believed.She was an extremely giving person, using her talents in ways that honored her Lord.She was always willing to help in any way that she could. I am honored to have had her in my life. She was a light to many.

It was so wonderful when I first met Julia. I met her at our Christian Womens'
group. She was so sweet and kind to talk
to and always had a warm inviting smile. We connected because she was a teacher and so am I. Julia was a wonderful Christian who will truly be missed. She is in God's great hands now.
