Joella S. Muehling, of Delray Beach, passed away at age 63 on June 19, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born in Bethesda, MD to parents Joseph and Carol Hall and in her youth, resided in Rockville, MD. She lived in Rosenberg, TX and Cary, NC before moving to Delray Beach in 2004. At the time of her death, Joella was employed by Publix Supermarkets where she was known as “The Singing Cashier.” She spent over 35 years as a member of Sweet Adelines International, a women’s a capella barbershop singing organization, and competed at the local, regional, and international level in both quartets and choruses. She was an international medalist with the Houston Horizon Chorus in 1992. After moving to Cary, NC in 1992, Joella sang the part of Bass as a member of the Showbiz! Quartet. The quartet won the 6-state regional competition in 1994-95-96 and competed in international quartet competitions in Reno, New Orleans, and Ft. Lauderdale. Joella is survived by her husband, Charles (Chuck) Muehling, of Delray Beach, her Son, Nick Czerniawski, of Hampton, VA, a sister, Cindy Hall, and brother, Gary Hall, both of Novato, CA, as well as a stepdaughter, Sue Kelley, of West Chester, PA. Joella had five grandchildren in VA and PA. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Denise Cady. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at Millian Memorial Methodist Church, Rockville, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
