Joan Joycelyn Harrigan, 62, of West Palm Beach, FL, went to be with Christ on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at the Florida Celebration Hospital in Celebration FL. She fought a brave fight against sarcoidosis. She was born on December 31, 1952 in Tortola, BVI to her late mother Olive E. Venzen Charles and her late father James R. Morton, Sr. She graduated in 1971 from Charlotte Amalie High School in St. Thomas USVI. Her favorite subjects were business and accounting. She was a mailhandler for 32 years at the US Postal Service. Her passion and hobbies were writing poems and sewing. Being that Joan was a poet, she had no problem expressing how she felt about life. She would let you know how she should be treated, she'd say "come here baby" and then lay down the "law". Joan was passionate about her family and friends. If she knew you were in need or were hurting she would offer her help in any way she can or pray with and for you. As a teenager, Joan watched her mother dress real nice for church and she wanted to be like that, so Joan always made sure she was dressed to the nines, a straight diva. Joan had a huge heart with her service to God in church. As a member of Love, Faith, and Power ministries she loved working with the children teaching them about Christ and living for Him, as well as teaching about respect for others and for themselves. She later became a member of First Baptist Church of WPB. She is remembered with love by Bernard O'Harrigan, her former spouse and father of her two children, Chekishia and Bernard. Her grandchildren Kaleb, Joshua and Sara and her fiance Eric Mac Farlane. Her sisters Valerie, Janice, Joyce, Maria, Marcia, Ruby and Lena. Her brothers Kenny, Allen, Simon and James Morton Jr. Joan leaves behind cousins, nieces, nephews and many other members that are too many to name. Joan will be missed and as sung by Andre Crouch, "yet there are those of us who have laid down our lives but we will meet again on the other side...soon and very soon, we are going to the see the King."
