Jennifer Movene Howell, daughter of Pastor Herbert & Clara James, was born in Kingston, Jamaica on December 1,1951. Jennifer was the youngest of 6 children, spending her early years with siblings: Sam, Winnie, Joey, Cutie and Avnel.
Jennifer met the love of her life in January 1970 when she joined the staff at Grateful Hill Primary school in Jamaica. Donald and Jennifer got married on August 15, 1975. Their union produced 5 children: Omar, Omika, Oshika, Okisha and Mikhail. She was a mother not only to these children but also stepson Neil and adopted daughters Sheryl and Deonne. In addition to her spouse and children, she is also survived by her 12 grandchildren.
Jennifer received her education in Jamaica. Her higher education prepared her for a teaching career with a specialization in Art and Craft. As an educator in Jamaica, she influenced many children by inculcating proper values and attitudes, while placing emphasis on maintaining good relationships.
Jennifer migrated to the United States of America in 1999. After migrating she worked as a teaching assistant until her retirement from the Palm Beach County School District in 2019.
Jennifer enjoyed gardening. She rarely planted anything that did not bear fruit. After a tour of her garden, visitors to her home would leave with the fruit of the season which includes: papaya, avocado, peppers and tea leaves.
Jennifer’s life was defined by her christian faith. She was actively involved in various areas of the church community. Throughout the years, she served as a Bible and Sunday School teacher, choir member, and was actively engaged in the Outreach and Children’s ministry. She spent much of her time reading her bible and talking to God. She was a prayer warrior! In any conversation with Jennifer you would hear her make statements like: “God is in control! Jesus is coming soon!”
Jennifer spent her life preparing herself and her family to make it to Heaven. Her life story is summarized by 2 Timothy 4:7-8: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
