He was born May 27, 1943 in Frederick, Maryland, son of the late Margaret Gertrude Albaugh Runkles and Francis Scott Runkles, both of Lake Worth Florida. Sister to the late Phyllis E. Castle, Geraldine L. Long and is survived by his sister Margaret G. Runkles of Lake Worth Florida, many nieces and nephews.
Jay grew up in Frederick Maryland, a graduate of the 1961 class of St. Johns’ Literary Institute, continuing his education at Mt. St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
Prior to moving to Florida, Jay was employed at the Corning Company and Alban Tractor in his hometown.
In 1976 Jay relocated to Florida to join several of his family members while enjoying, fishing, home improvements, landscaping, coordinating neighborhood parades, attending little league baseball games, playing jokes on the neighborhood children and enjoying the camaraderie of his beloved neighbors who held a special place in his heart.
He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Memorial donations may be made in his name to your local Pro-Life foundation.
A private funeral mass will be held in his honor on Saturday, May 30, 2020 in Frederick Maryland with graveside service and internment at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Rocky Ridge Maryland
