Retired Lt. Col. Harold L. Osborne, 96, passed away July 21, 2016 at Hospice Bethesda Memorial East in Boynton Beach. Harold was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Dec. 17, 1919. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jean, and his parents Herbert and Evva. He graduated from Classen High School and the University of Oklahoma marrying Lois Jean on June 8, 1940, his parents’ wedding anniversary. After completing ROTC, and with the outbreak of World War II, Harold joined the Army as a 2nd Lt. and served in the Armored Field Artillery Battalion in the European Campaign including the Battle of the Bulge. He later served as an economic advisor in Korea and Japan from 1946-49. He then served two tours in Germany as an intelligence officer and his last assignment was at the Presidio in San Francisco where he retired in 1965. Harold wanted to move to a warmer climate where he and his wife could enjoy playing golf year-round and picked Miami, FL, where he established himself in real estate. He moved to Lake Worth and the community of Atlantis in 1970 and became a successful real estate agent there before retiring in 2008. Harold is survived by his two sons, Jay (JoAnn) of Jupiter, FL, and Kip (Marianne) of Greensboro, GA, two grandchildren, Jenifyr Bedard from Jupiter, FL, and Jeananne Osborne from New York City, NY, and two great granddaughters, Noelle Bedard and Lillian Bedard from Jupiter, FL. Other relatives from Kansas include Annette, Kim, Kevin, Keith, April, Meredith, Miles, Erin and Quinn Osborne. The family also would like to acknowledge professional caregiver, Claudia Obregon for her loving assistance for the past 18-months. Funeral services, complete with military honors, will be at his ancestral cemetery in Danville, Kansas on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harold’s name to Hospice of Palm Beach County.
