Edward Nelson King, age 94, died peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2021. Edward was born January 28, 1927 in Lake Worth. He was treasurer of the graduating class of 1945 at Lake Worth High School. He was a WWII U.S. Marine veteran. He received his degree from Palm Beach Junior College and went on to graduate from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. He started serving an apprenticeship in 1948 under Earl Smith and continued employment with E. Earl Smith& Son and affiliates into his early 80’s. He was a member of the Highway Patrol Auxiliary and the Marine Corps League of Palm Beach County. Edward was an active supporter of LWHS as a member of the alumni association and as a member of the Trojan 20, the Baseball and Basketball Booster’s association. He was a charter member and past president of the Lake Worth Exchange Club where he received the Golden Deeds Award from the National Exchange Club and the Exchange Club of Lake Worth for his commitment to helping people in the community. He also received the Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award. As his children attended Sacred Heart School, he helped create the school board and serve as its first Chairman. He’s been a member of the American Legion since 1946. He was a long-time member of Calvary Methodist Church.
He is survived by: his children, Michael (Travys), Gary (Lori), Kathleen, Dan (Cindy), Denise, Eileen (Jim); 18 grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; many more extended family and friends.
Edward was devoted to his family, committed to service to his community, dedicated to his career. He will be truly missed.

at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL 33461.
A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00am.
