Age 88, formerly of Lake Worth, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013in Vero Beach, FL. A native of Virginia, he and his late, beloved wife Virginia came to Lake Worth in 1956 to minister to the First Christian Church of Lake Worth. He left a thriving, loving and serving First Christian Church as pastor following the death of their son James. They had previously lost a son, Daniel, in death earlier in their ministry. Deacon served as a reporter and later as editor of the Lake Worth Herald. Virginia worked at E. Earl Smith & Son Funeral Home for more than 20 years.
At the time of his death, Mr. Rhodes was a member of the First Christian Church of West Palm Beach and Vogel-Lee Post 47, American Legion, Lake Worth.
Survivors include one son, David (wife, Mary) Rhodes of Vero Beach, and a brother, Lewis C. Rhodes of Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6:00 – 8:00pm with funeral services beginning at 8pm on Thursday, September 19th at the funeral home. Rev. Donn Brammer of First Christian Church of West Palm Beach will be officiating. Interment will be held privately at Palm Beach Memorial Park.
