Ruth Anna Roe, age 87, passed away on May 29, 2017 in Bradenton, Florida. She joins her husband Nolan T. Roe and daughter Kathleen Marie Winter. Ruth was born in Saginaw, Michigan June 15, 1929, daughter of Charles and Marie Kaufmann and brother Charles Kaufmann, all of whom predeceased her. She and Nolan raised two beautiful children, Steven Andrew Roe of Bradenton, Florida and daughter Kathi, who died on April 5.
Ruth and her husband Nolan spent the early years of their marriage in Illinois, then moved to Harbor Springs and Petoskey, Michigan where they owned four businesses and showed Irish Setters. She and Nolan retired in 1988 and moved to Bradenton, Florida. A loving and devoted wife, she is survived by son Steven and his wife Martha Roe, grandchildren Charles Roe Winter and Victoria Ann Winter and son-in-law Charles Winter of Kissimmee, Florida, , sister-in-law Noreen Mosson of Lake Odessa, four nieces and numerous cousins.
Ruth graduated from Michigan State with a degree in Biological Sciences. She attended Bradenriver United Methodist church in Bradenton, Florida. She loved gardening, baking, and telling stories of yesteryear. She published a diligently-researched book about the Kaufmann family genealogy. Ruth will be remembered for her contagious laughter and generous spirit.
Funeral services will be held Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa, Michigan on Saturday June 10, 2017 11am. Ruth will be laid to rest next to her husband at Lakeside Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in Bradenton, Florida at a future date.
