Roxie Launa Skidmore

Roxie Launa Skidmore, age 82, of Ionia, Michigan passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024.She was born in Harlan, Ky to Jessie and Polly Clem on July 11, 1942. Roxie was a CNA and worked 18 years for the State of Michigan, doing home visits and helping people with things like controlling their diabetes and helping with meals. She was a member of the Church of God for 48 years. In recent years Roxie took great joy in collecting blankets, hats, and gloves for the Guiding Light Mission in Grand Rapids. Roxie absolutely cherished all the sleepovers with her grandchildren which often included a late night run to the Dairy Queen. She loved to fish and spend time with her family, as a true southern lady cooking large family meals was her love language.

Roxie leaves behind her children; Grover (Dawn) Skidmore, Gordon Skidmore, Gretta (Gary) Pennington, Ashley (Ben) Williams, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that were the light of her life, many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Asher Skidmore, sons Asher Eugene Skidmore and Rickie Allen, siblings Vernie Clem, Bobbie Lee Clem, Jessie Messer and infant twin siblings, step dad John Will Clem.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11am until time of service at 2pm at Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa, MI. She will be laid to rest in Lakeside Cemetery with her husband Asher.

Donations in Roxie's name can be given to Guiding Light Mission in Grand Rapids.
