Michael Van Dorp, age 63, of Vermontville formerly of Lake Odessa went to be in the loving arms of Jesus on July 28, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife Suzan K. Van Dorp; sons Michael (Elizabeth) Van Dorp, Daniel (Shirley) Van Dorp and Matthew Van Dorp; daughters Katie (Johnathon) Hagen, Kathlyn (Charles) Newcombe; grandchildren Michael, Ryan, Alesia, Daniel, Ellasondra, Mariah, Elijah and Broden; brothers Jacob and Thomas (Karen) Van Dorp. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed. Michael attended Wayland High School and then joined the Marine Corps serving in Vietnam. He then became a cop, EMT, and firefighter, then went on to a career at Amway from which he retired. Michael was a family man with a wonderful sense of charming humor. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed farming. He lived out his Christian walk while attending Kilpatrick United Brethren Church. We are so grateful for everyone’s thoughts and prayers during his battle with cancer. He is now without limitations in his Heavenly home where we will see him again. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa, MI from 2pm until 5pm. Funeral services will be held at the Kilpatrick United Brethren Church Monday, August 1st, 2016 at 11am with burial taking place at Woodland Memorial Park, Woodland, MI.
