On the afternoon of September 21st, 2015, Granny went to be in the arms of Jesus. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her home in Fenton Michigan.
Granny was born in Prestonsburg, KY to Taylor and Dixie (Whitaker) DeRossett. She helped to raise her younger siblings, Jerry, Dolores, and Rodney.
As a young girl she was a bit of a scamp. She was very smart and graduated at the early age of 17, although she used those smarts to sneak out of school with the other girls to go see movies and leave the only boy to explain where they had gone.
She had a few beaus but married Isaac Clark Peters Jr on May 24th 1951. As their marriage progressed they turned the ministry for their lives work. She loved to help people and the two started and helped to build churches everywhere that they went. Often the parsonage was attached to the church and the torturous smell of homemade spaghetti and meatballs would tease the church goers throughout the services.
Lorraine and Zeke (Isaac) had four children, Taylor, Evelyn Delores, Steven Ray, and adopted daughter Kathy. It was during this time period that she started being called Granny, which is what the world would know her as. Several people were even known to ask “Her name isn’t Granny?” With the arrival of her grandkids her humorous side emerged full force as she chased them around pulling faces and groaning “raw eyes and bloody bones” followed by a late night tapping on the window. Her laughter would follow soon after letting the kids know that they were safe. She was known for her broom flinging if you ran from her, being able to take you down in the back of the knees across the yard, plate tossing with scary accuracy if you angered her, and shooting the chickens in the rump with the bb gun to make the kids laugh when they jumped.
Granny was preceded in death by her loving husband Zeke, both her parents, Taylor and Dixie DeRossett, her son Taylor Peters, daughter in law Marline, and her sister in law Sarah.
Granny is survived by her daughter Evelyn and her husband Roger, her son Steve and his wife Becky, Her daughter Kathy and her husband Clem, her brother Jerry, her sister Dolores and her husband Joe, her brother Rodney and his wife Brenda. Grandkids Cherria/Mike (7 kids), Taylora/Ben (2 kids), Jonathan/Rikki (4.5 kids), Honesty/Lonny (3kids, 1 great grandkid), Charity/Kelley (5 kids), Noah, Billy, Stephen/Jessica (6 kids, 3 great grandkids), Angel/Scott (3 kids), Joy/Chris (4 kids), Holly/Jerry (3 kids), Candy/Steve (7 kids), Joshua/Sara (6 kids, 1 grandchild), Jeremiah/Lisa (5 kids), Steven/Jessica (6 kids), Brittany/Dan (2 kids), Betty Jane (2 kids), Daniel/Jennifer (2 kids), Jerred/Melinda (5 kids, 3 great grandkids) and numerous nieces and nephews.
