several days earlier. He was born August 4, 1928, in Lansing MI, to Cornelius and Lora
(Buskirk) Peters, and older siblings Norma and Stanley.
Besides his family, Herb’s main focus and joy was music. A graduate of the MSU School of
Music, he taught public school band in the Madison Heights - Lamphere district for most of his
career. He was also very proud to have performed in the Detroit Concert Band, under Leonard
B. Smith. On retirement, he moved with his wife to their summer cottage near Lake Odessa,
then to her present home in Mulliken, in 1993. He also enjoyed golfing, especially with family,
boating, and travel.
Herb is survived by his wife of 72 years, Marjorie (Kingsley), and their three children, seven
grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He requested that there
be no public service.
