Barbara J Simmons

Barbara Jean Simmons, 83, of Newberry MI, passed away on January 8, 2017. Barbara was born to Leslie and Pauline Eddy on August 24, 1933, in Boyne City MI. Barbara married Ray in Tampa FL on January 15, 1961.

Barbara enjoyed waking up in the morning, drinking her coffee, and completing her daily crossword puzzle. She was a homemaker, and spent her life as a loving mother, grandmother, and a care taker to all. She loved reading books, but most of all, she loved reading romance novels. Barbara enjoyed traveling and camping across the U.S. with her husband in their motorhome, she has visited 48 states. Barbara was an Elder of The Sault Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Simmons; son, Randy Simmons; and sister, Sally Barker.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Laura Jeanne Simmons Crowder; son, Ryan Simmons; siblings, Joan Karlson, Marie Smith, Bob Eddy, Judy Stucke, Kim Eddy; grandchildren, Collin and Caden Crowder, and Lacey Simmons-Barker; great-granchildren, Bryan Alan II, Brylynn, and Ava Ray Crowder, Aiden Simmons, and Wyatt Barker. And several Nieces, Nephews, and extended family.

A graveside service will be held at Restwood Memorial Park on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 11:00am.
