Sharlene moved to Lake Charles from Houma, LA in 1957. She was a business owner of a cleaning and maintenance business, while she maintained a modest life. She enjoyed sewing and nurturing sick animals.
Sharlene displayed a strong Christian faith with a passion for living a simple life. She had a fostering personality as she nurtured her siblings as a Mother figure. She was resilient as she was faced with a 7 year battle of 4 different types of cancer (3 of which she won the battle).
Her contagious smile and personality were an inspiration for many, especially those who were faced with battling cancer. While she was battling cancer she would express comfort, encouragement, faith and hope to those in need. She was always known as a compassionate hero to many.
Sharlene is preceded in death by her parents, Justin and Catherine Picou Sr; one grandchild and a sister, Evelyn Boudreaux.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Alfred Edward Racca; son, Timothy P. Racca (Michelle) of Lake Charles, LA; daughter, Angela Kaye Jordan (Robert) of Sulphur, LA; brothers, Justin Pico Jr. (Debbie), Wayne Pico (Patricia), Daniel Pico (Felicia) all from Abbeyville, LA and Terry Pico (Jennifer) of Cameron, LA; four grandchildren; one great grandchild and another one on the way.
A celebration of Sharlene’s life will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Tom Hebert Rd. Baptist Church at 1:00pm. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm also at the church. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
