Mary Nan O'Connor Peterson

She was a member of Westlake High School Band Boosters. She was very active in her children and grandchildren’s sports activities and attended every game. She enjoyed painting and was an Artist from 1970-1984. She was a longtime member of Westwood Baptist Church where she was very active in church activities and greeted church members on Sunday and was known as Ms. Mary.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, James "Pete" Peterson of Westlake; sons, Tyler Peterson and wife Teri of Lake Charles; Scott Peterson and wife Shawn of Moss Bluff; daughter, Debbie Hartman and husband David of Sulphur; sisters, Frankie Mitchell of Westlake; Margie Moses and husband Jerry of DeQuincy; grandchildren, Scott Peterson and wife Kara of Moss Bluff; Mark Peterson and wife Laura of Metairie; James Peterson of Lake Charles; Jace Peterson of Lake Charles; Kyle Peterson of Lake Charles; Eric Peterson of Moss Bluff; Kristi Benoit and husband Brian of Lake Charles; great grandchildren, Preston Peterson, Cohen Peterson and Patrick Benoit. She is preceded in death by her parents, Laurence and Myrtle O'Conner, brothers, Douglas and Daniel O'Conner; sister, Lorraine DeRamus; son-in-law, Randy Hanks.

Her six grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.

Her service will be 12 noon, Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. Lamar Huffman will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and resume Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be at Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery.
