Mrs. Taylor was a devoted wife for nearly 75 years, spending most of her time working beside her husband in his many business ventures. The couple had many successful businesses including a saw mill, a motel, a restaurant, a private airport with 16 airplanes, and a farm. She was especially proud to have earned a pilot’s license in the 1940’s, a time when few women had done so. Mrs. Taylor was a strong and independent woman driving across the country alone to see her daughter and grandchildren. All that knew her will remember her sweet temperament and her great sense of humor. She maintained these traits even to the end. She was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Beaufort and later attended Sweetlake United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Jones of Sweetlake, LA; brother, Preston Graham of Mill Creek, N.C. and grandchildren, David Willis, Bonnie Conner and Bryan Jones of Sweetlake, Butch Willis and Jill Willis of Lake Charles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Taylor; daughter, Lois Taylor and son, Jessie Taylor. The family would like to offer special thanks to her loving caregivers Toni, Linda, Carolyn, Bernie and Brenda.
