Mrs. Tullos moved to Lake Charles 50 years ago from Shreveport, La. She was a very civic minded person as a member of the Junior League of Shreveport. She was heavily involved in community service and the Salvation Army. She established the first Cajun gift shop, "The Cajun Store" adjacent to Chateau Charles Hotel and Restaurant. She attended Southfield Elementary School for Girls and she graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1951. She and Jack Tullos were proprietors of Chateau Charles.
She is survived by her sons, Andrew Tullos and wife Eugenie of Lake Charles, Marshall Tullos and wife, Margaret of Dallas, TX, Kirk Tullos and wife Tammie of Hogansville, GA, and John Tullos of Lake Charles; brother, Gerry Tharpe of Houston, TX; bro-in-law, Dr. Eugene St. Martin; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Allen Tharpe and May Perot Tharpe; husband, Andrew Jackson “Jack” Tullos Jr.; brothers, Edgar Allen Tharpe Jr. and Marshall Stewart Tharpe; and son, Edgar Allen “Eddie” Tullos.
Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles and will continue at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday until the time of service. Another visitation will be held at Forest Park Funeral Home in Shreveport from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014.
