He served the Lord at his church Bethany Baptist for over 45 years, retired as a Construction Boilermaker/ Welder after 30 years, proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Ticonderoga CVA-14, worked as a crew-boat captain, a 4-H leader, youth baseball and basketball coach.
Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time with loved ones, social activities, being outdoors, raising farm animals, sports, racing horses and hunting.
He is preceded in death by his son, Barry Scott Pearce, father, William Harold Pearce, mother, Edna Marie LeBlanc Pearce, and brother, John Harold “Billy” Pearce.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Frances Marcantel Pearce, son, Leonard Joseph Pearce Jr., daughters, Jeanne Marie Pearce Davis and Sarah Elizabeth Pearce, grandchildren, Hunter, John Tanner, Brennon, Katelynn, Kelly, Tyler, Taylor, Nicholas, Madison, Mathieu, Jason Morgun, sister, Edna Mae Berglund, brother, Wallace Michael Pearce, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
He will always be remember as a strong and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 at Bethany Baptist Church in LeBleu Settlement, Louisiana. Rev. Francis LaRocque will officiate. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation will resume 9-11 a.m. Monday at the church.
Donations made to the family will be sent to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, LA in Leonard's Honor.
