After graduation from LaGrange High School in 1973, he began his career in law enforcement working for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office before moving to San Diego, CA. After retiring from the Federal Bureau of Prisons he worked for the United States Marshals as court room security until 2013, when he moved to Ragley to be near family. He was also a certified Firearms instructor, training and instructing at numerous academies and institutions. Benny was a quiet man who had a passion for learning; he enjoyed visiting various museums and was an avid reader and collector. Most of all Benny will be remembered for his love of family.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Shirley Mouton of Ragley; sister, Jolane Lonidier and husband Robert of Ragley; two nieces, Layna Gaston and husband Tyler, and Ashlyn Lonidier, great niece, Aubree Gaston; great nephew, Cullen East; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Laurice Bennett Mouton, Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in St. Pius X Catholic Church of Ragley. Father Tim Goodley will officiate. Interment will follow in Squyres United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home, 3001 Ryan Street, Lake Charles 4 – 9 p.m. Monday, June 18th with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and will resume in the Funeral home 8 a.m. – 1p.m . on Tuesday.
