Edward was born on November 27, 1936 in Plaquemine, Louisiana. He was the second of three children, and the only son, born to Georgia and Clarence (Coon) Thibodeaux.
As a young boy growing up, Edward worked with his dad in the fields of Plaquemine where they grew cotton, corn, and potatoes. During his late teen years in 1956, Edward’s parents moved the family to Lake Charles, Louisiana. There Edward worked odd jobs for the first few years, but shortly afterwards he found a permanent position as a construction worker at the refinery formerly known as Hercules Chemical Plant.
While at Hercules, Edward fell in love with Paula Semien. They decided to get married and through this union had five children. After raising his children, he decided to retire at the age of 65 years old so he could spend time doing the many things he enjoyed. Some of his hobbies included fishing, crabbing, being with friends, traveling to spend time with his children who lived out of town, and having regular cookouts at his home with family. He was a Godly man who loved his family. He was also a faithful Catholic and rarely missed going to church during healthier times. Edward was a devoted member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he served as an usher at Fatima Chapel.
Edward was preceded in death by his sister – Annie Lee Kennerson, his mother - Georgia (Lil’ Mom) Thibodeaux Joubert, and his father - Clarence (Coon) Thibodeaux.
Edward is survived by his sister, Bernice Pitre; three sons, Ronie Semien, Edward (Marguerite) Thibodeaux; Dwayne (Nicole) Thibodeaux; four daughters Cindy (Bryan) Hudson, Charlotte (Norman) Biagas, Sharon (Reggie) Pappillion, and Paula Thibodeaux; 22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends.
