Jose Alberto Gonzalez Argaez

He was a native of Yucatan, Mexico and a resident of Lake Charles. He graduated with a degree in Foreign Language and Education and earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Louisiana Monroe. Jose was a finalist in 2022 for Louisiana Foreign Language Teacher of the Year. He taught Spanish for 10 years at Grand Lake High School.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Elgia Chan May of Lake Charles; parents, Jose and Lizbeth Gonzalez of Mexico; daughters, Nelly Rene Gonzalez Chan and Camila Gonzalez Chan of Lake Charles; sister, Alejandra Gonzalez Argaez of Mexico and nephew, Amir Gonzalez of Mexico; paternal grandmother, Ruth Herrera, maternal grandmother, Gertrudis Castillo.

A Memorial Service will be 6pm, Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Grand Lake Faith Temple (655 LA 384, Lake Charles, LA). The family will receive friends from 5:30pm until time of service. Pastor Kris Howerton will officiate.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
