Billy was 82 years old He was born in an apartment on Ryan Street downtown, Lake Charles, LA. He attended elementary school at Immaculate Conception Catholic School and graduated from Landry Memorial High School. Billy also attended McNeese State College.
His first job was being a ticket taker at the Delta Movie Theater. He went to work at Cities Service Plant when he was 16 years old. After graduating from high school he joined the Navy for two years. He got to travel to Rome and many other foreign countries. When he returned from serving his country, he went back to work at Cities Service as a timekeeper and he worked there for about 40 years. Billy lived in the Immaculate Conception Parish most of his life. He was in the church choir for many years when Msgr. Louis Boudreaux was pastor there. Billy was the rock of his family. He was always helpful and generous to his parents, brothers and sister. Billy loved to listen to his stereo system, mostly opera and watch old movies. In his younger years he enjoyed visiting and listening to music and going to movies with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. “Bill” Pearce and Edna LeBlanc Pearce; nephew, Barry Scott Pearce.
Billy leaves to cherish his memories two brothers, Leonard J Pearce Sr. of Iowa and Wallace M. Pearce of Lake Charles; sister, Edna Pearce Berglund also of Lake Charles; two nieces, Jeannie Marie Daigle of Lake Charles and Sarah Elizabeth Pearce of DeRidder, LA; three nephews, Michael P. Berglund of Houston, TX, Steven C. Berglund of Lake Charles and Leonard J. Pearce Jr. of Iowa. He also has many great nieces and nephews and even has a great great niece and a great great nephew.
Visitation will begin Friday, May 17, 2013 from 5:00pm-8:00pm with a rosary at 5:30pm and a memorial service at 6:00pm. Msgr. Jace Eskind will officiate. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
