Galton was born and lived in Creole, where he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Louisiana Cattleman's Association, the Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Festival, the Southwest Ranch Rodeo Association, and Chenier Chefs, as well as a former member and ongoing supporter of Cameron Parish 4-H and FFA livestock programs.
As a member of Chenier Chefs, a local volunteer group that cooks for fundraising, community and family events, Galton was one of the primary planners and chefs in Joplin, Missouri, cooking a variety of Cajun meals and serving victims, disaster responders and volunteers for several days, following destructive tornadoes in 2011, as a way of giving back to a community that had had helped Cameron Parish in 2005. This same spirit of selfless giving was how Galton lived his life, always ready to lend a hand, chop an onion, stir a pot, round up cattle or simply do whatever was needed, without expecting anything in return. But, his love of cooking for others will truly be missed. Galton originated cooking shoulder clods, a Creole specialty for serving large groups. Canik’s Grocery has truly lost a legend, as Galton was not only a cook, but could be found at a table every single day, visiting and sharing stories with everyone who walked in the door. Galton’s big heart will always be remembered.
He is survived by his sons, Mitchell Boudreaux and wife, Pauline of Oberlin; Stephen Boudreaux and wife, Lisa of Kinder; stepchildren, Dirk Desonier, Dean Desonier, Delaine Chastain and Jengi Miller; sisters, Geraldine Richard, Martha Conner, Joyce Savoie; grandchildren, Hayley Boudreaux, Dylan Boudreaux, Lacey Boudreaux, Bethany Boudreaux, Jayci Rattay, Cody Hayes, Lori Lemons and Jodi Oliver, ten great grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dianna Dale Boudreaux, parents, Mayo and Lucia Boudreaux, mother of his children, Shirley Grace Sanner, brothers, Clarence "Bo Chaulk" Boudreaux, Dewey Boudreaux, Charlie Boudreaux, sisters, Agnes Mae LeBoeuf and Willa Dean Boudreaux.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southwest Ranch Rodeo Association, at 875 East Creole Highway, Creole, Louisiana 70632. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
