JoAnn Mouton Mott, age 79, of Lake Charles passed away on Wednesday August 26, 2015. She was born on March 6, 1936 in Bell City, Louisiana to Russell and Mabel DeRouen Mouton. JoAnn was a parishioner of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Daughters and a member of the Come Lord Jesus Group. JoAnn enjoyed life and loved to play the piano which she played beautifully, crocheting, her church, babies, making her famous oatmeal butterscotch cookies, making candy, but she especially loved spending time with her family of which she was the Matriarch.
JoAnn is survived by her brother, Laddie Bob “Buddy” Mouton and his wife Totsie of Lake Charles, her sisters, Beverly Mouton Beard of Grand Lake and Helen Mouton Wellmon of Greensboro, North Carolina, also numerous nieces and nephews who she had a hand in raising and who thought of her as their second mother and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Mabel DeRouen Mouton, her husband Isaac “Dickie” Mott, her sisters Bernadine Mouton Matt, Earline Mouton Breaux and Brenda Mouton Idlett, also several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 3:00pm – 9:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles with a rosary service at 6:00pm. Visitation will resume on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 8:00am till time of Mass. A Funeral Mass Celebrating JoAnn’s life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at 11:00am at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Charles. Father Jay Alexius will officiate. Interment will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
