It is with the deepest sorrow that the family of Jimmy Allen Guillory, 78, announces his passing at a Lake Charles hospital on November 8, 2024. Jimmy is mourned and survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Jennifer Walker Guillory, his daughter Rochelle Guillory Fant, her son Gunnar Allen Fant and daughter, Devaney Crider Ryder, her son and Jimmy’s great grandson Oliver Wayne Savoie, her husband Scott Matthew Rider and his Children, Mason John Rider and Owen Scott Rider. Jimmy is also survived by his sisters, Phyllis Guillory and Denise Guillory, his stepsons Roger Corbello Jr. and his stepson Chris’ wife Erica Corbello, their children and Jimmy’s grandchildren Sarah Corbello Guillory, Roger Paul Corbello, and Dylan Marshall Corbello, and his great-grandchildren Emma Marie Guillory and Cecilia Diane Louise Guillory.
Jimmy was born on November 17, 1946. After completing his primary education, Jimmy went on to study engineering, ultimately graduating from McNeese State University with a master's degree. Around this time, Jimmy most proudly served in the United States Air Force, flying during the Vietnam War. After serving his country with honor and distinction, Jimmy left the Air Force to work in the private sector at Citgo refinery as a senior operator for many years.
As anyone who knew Jimmy can attest to, Jimmy was an exceptionally bright man. After his retirement, he put those gifts to practice with one of his main retirement hobbies, computers, and electronics. Jimmy became quite the computer guru, spending hours at a time in his "Man Cave", sitting at his impressive computer setup like he was sitting at NASA's "mission control". Jimmy's hours were also spent on his other favorite hobbies, preparing for shooting contests and hunting, watching LSU sports, any several other sports that came his way. When not working with his computers or other hobbies, Jimmy enjoyed driving his fine vehicles and sampling the cuisine of new and favorite restaurants near and far.
As Jimmy's family grew in his middle age and later years, he took on the role of patriarch of his family. He became fiercely protective of his family that he cherished with all of his heart. Jimmy would have gone to any lengths to watch after his family, with the grandchildren and great grandchildren that he adored at the center of his focus. Jimmy's family duties of course didn't stop at simply protecting his family. Jimmy's truest joy was spending quality time with them, denying them nothing that he was able to give. He deeply enjoyed being a part of raising them. He was also richly blessed to be able to spend time with his great-grandchildren, with them and his darling wife Jennifer being the things and people that made his later life such a loving and rewarding time in his life.
Jimmy's family kindly asks that any financial gifts be donated to Saint Louis Catholic High School, his wife's home as a teacher for over 45 years, where Jimmy became a fixture, helping in any way he could and showing plenty of school spirit. Alternately, the family would also appreciate it if gifts would be sent to the Our Lady Queen of Heaven Early Childhood Center.
Our beloved Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Ruth Guillory, his sister Darlene Hoeppner, and his step-son Christopher Wayne Corbello.
