Mr. King was born in Houston, TX and lived in Jennings and Lake Charles. He was a member of the Methodist faith, a member of the Greater Lake Charles Rotary Club and Jennings Rotary Club. He was a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran and also was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post 2130. Mr. King owned King Buick in Jennings, J&D King R/V’s and Little Pig Barbeque. He retired from Cities Service in the 80’s as a supervisor and also served as a Calcasieu Parish Deputy Sherriff. He also worked at Hixson Funeral Home as a Funeral Associate.
He is survived by his son, James W. King, Jr. and wife Debbie of Baytown, TX; daughter, Laura Milligan and husband Dr. Edward Milligan of Shreveport, LA; step daughter, Rebecca Ann Rollins of Sulphur; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Doris Parker King, brother, Kenneth King, sisters, Alberta Aleshire and Hazel Faulk, one great grandchild, Katie Milligan.
His service will be 11:00am, Monday, February 1, 2016 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will Sunday, 5:00pm until 8:00pm and resume Monday from 8:00am until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
