He was born in Eunice, LA and lived in Oberlin prior to moving to Lake Charles. He was a member of The Cajun French Music Association, The Dance Group and The Medical Reserve Corp. He was a retired volunteer for the senior program. He retired from the carpenter’s local after 40 years. He loved dancing, bowling, playing cards, fishing and hunting. He was a caring father, grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Bergeron of Lake Charles; sons, Billy and wife, Vickie of LeBleu Settlement, John and wife, Sheila of Longville, LA, James Jr. and wife, Sherry of Pearland, TX; step-son, Tommy Smith of Westlake; daughters, Kathy Miller and husband, Leonard of LeBleu Settlement, Cindy Bowman and husband, Mark of LeBleu Settlement; step-daughters, Connie Sonnier and husband, James of Lake Charles and Becky Cameron and husband, Steven of Warrenton, Virginia; brothers, Jerry and Rita Bergeron of Gillis, LA and Charles Bergeron of Westlake, LA; sister, Grace Hadwin of Dry Creek, LA; 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren.
His funeral will be 7pm, Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will begin Wednesday 11am-9pm with a rosary at 6pm.
