God sent his angels down on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 7:07 p.m. To take Iris to his heavenly home surrounded by a host of family and friends.
Born July 1, 1934 in Cameron, Louisiana, to the late Finn and Floria Moore Jones. He resided in Cameron until Hurricane Rita then relocated to Lake Charles. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
He was previously employed by Louisiana Menhaden, Cameron Parish Court House for numerous years. Iris worked at Cameron Steel for 20+ years, Omega Protein for 21 years and Billy Navarre Chevrolet for several months. His favorite pastime was “getting on his horse” cutting his grass for he loved the outdoors. A “true family man” and a loving, dedicated husband and true friend to many.
Those left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 10 years, Drusilla Jones; three daughters, Floria (Micheal) Semien, Allena (Shelton) Ellison and Linda Jones; stepson, Ivan Harmon all of Lake Charles, LA; sisters, Bertina Fountain, Joyce (Adolph) Foster; mother-in-law, Mary Cockrell; sister-in-law, Carol (Michael) Smith of Richmond, Texas; loving aunt, Mrs. Ethel Mae Dozier of Houston, Texas; special cousin, Mrs. Ethel January; devoted and loving nephew Roosevelt (Jabbo) Fountain Jr; godchild, Renesha Fountain; best friends, Deseria Bishop of Lafayette, Louisiana and Ronald Borders of Port Arthur, Texas. Along with 6 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother; Paul Jones, sister; Shirley Jones and both his parents.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mohammad Khan and Dr. James G. Maze and staff for the wonderful care they gave to Iris.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Lake Charles. Father Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 7, 2015 from 9 am until time of service with a rosary at 11 am at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles.
