Idell Thibodeaux Hewitt, age 82, of Jennings, La., passed away peacefully on Nov. 17, 2024. Born in Welsh, La., Idell spent much of her life in Sulphur, where she created a warm and loving home for her family.
Idell was known for her selflessness and dedication to her loved ones. A devoted mother and grandmother, she was her grandkids' biggest supporter, cheering them on in every sport and activity they pursued. An avid football fan, she found joy in the game and the camaraderie it brought. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, baking, and nurturing her beautiful garden, all reflections of her creativity and nurturing spirit.
In a final act of generosity, Idell donated her body to science, contributing to the advancement of medical research. Following her wishes, she will be cremated, and a private graveside service will be held at Big Woods Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at the Willoughby home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to share in this informal gathering, where dinner will be served. Attendees are encouraged to dress comfortably and bring their cherished stories, memories, and photographs to celebrate Idell's vibrant life.
Idell is survived by her loving daughter, Tina, and son-in-law, David Willoughby; her beloved grandchildren, Josh, Kaiden, Gavin, and Brianna Willoughby; and her brothers, Clyde "Buddy" and Emery Thibodeaux, and his wife, Lenor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Zilda Thibodeaux; her husband, Monte Hewitt; and her siblings, Wallace, David "Skipper," Percy, and Felix "Butch" Thibodeaux, Margie Campisi, Isabell "Lu" Thibodeaux, Rena Fresk; and her cherished dog, Cindy Lou.
Idell will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
