Hilman Guillory, was a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps (3rd Battalion, 1st Marine, 1st Marine Division) and served during the Vietnam War. While in Vietnam, LCPL Guillory was a Rifleman and helped in conducting the extremely dangerous task of locating and disabling the Vietcong mines and booby traps. LCPL, Guillory received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, a combat Action Ribbon, a Vietnam Campaign Medal with device and a Rifle Sharpshooter badge.
“Fox” had a strong faith and love for God and country and was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. Fox also was a member of Knights of Peter Claver and worked for Lake Charles Stevedores and Hebert Lumber Co.
Hilman was born in Mallet, LA, on February 23 1949 and raised in Lake Charles, the third of eight children.
“Fox” was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Nola; sons, Richard, Robert and Marvin Guillory of Lake Charles, Adrian and Hilman Jr. of New York City, Michael Palmer of Lake Charles and Donderick Pettieway of Crosby, TX; 3 sisters, Linda Haley, Loretta Guillory and Lena Dellafosse; 4 brothers, Phillip, Gilbert, Michael all of Lake Charles, and Merlin Guillory of South Carolina; 18 grandchildren.
Hilman Guillory was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Matney Guillory and Odelia Gallien Guillory; maternal grandparents, Jack Gallien and Clemonce Bellard Gallien; paternal grandparents, Mitchell and Edolia Guillory.
Funeral services will be as followed: Visitation Friday, August 17, 2012, 4pm-8pm, rosary at 6pm, all at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Special mass will be held Saturday, August 18 at 1:15pm at St. Henry Catholic Church. The Msgr. Danny Torres will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery.
