Helen Fobbs Edwards

She was born to the late Joseph Fobbs, and Idell Cooks Fobbs. Helen was the 6th of 11 children they bore. She was raised in Lake Charles, and in her early adult life she moved to Houston and worked as a short order cook at the Rice Hotel.

She was united in marriage to Morris Paul Edwards Jr.. Helen had 11 children with the last 2 being identical twins, the largest set of twins born in houston in 1968. She gave her life to the Lord at the age of 34. Later she moved back to Lake Charles to be near her family.

Around the age of 60 she became ill and lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and James Lewis. The last year and a half Helen resided at Grand Cove Nursing Facility. She was hospitalized on April 13, 2023 then gave up the fight on April 19 and was admitted to Harbor Hospice.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her first born child David Fobbs, Siblings; Clavis Fobbs Sr. Bishop Elton Fobbs, Clayton Fobbs, Clinton Fobbs Sr., Lillie Mae Batiste, Mildred Robinson, Della Spearman, Theresa Fobbs, Bernadine Fobbs, her grandson; Leslie Allen Jacobs, III, her daughter-in-law Stella Louise Richard.

Those left to cherish her memories are 10 children; Ava Napoleon and husband Berto of Tampa, Florida, Michael Richard of Houston, Texas, Cindy Hudson and husband Brian of Iowa, Louisiana, Leslie Allen Jacobs of Houston, Texas, Mark Simien and wife Serita of Houston, Texas, Pamela Lewis and husband James of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Sanderson Simien of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Patrick Edwards of Alexandria, Louisiana, Helen Roberson and husband David of San Antonio, Texas, Ellen Hightower of San Antonio, Texas, and 1 sister Jerry Ann Hailes of Maryland, as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will welcome the public for visitation Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM followed by interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lake Charles, LA.

The family would like to extend our appreciation for all the expressions of love and kindness shown through your prayers, cards and calls during our time of bereavement. A special heartfelt thanks to Grand Cove Nursing Facility, St. Patrick's Hospital and Harbor Hospice.
