Hazel Virginia Hebert (known to family & friends as the ironing lady) was born January 28, 1936, in Gadsden County, FL to Clara Edwards-Shepard and Hubert Shepard
At age 18 Hazel found her way to Cameron, La. where she met the love of her life Louis Joseph (LJ) Hebert. together they raised their family in Cameron, La. She previously owned Hazel's Janitorial Service servicing several oilfield offices in Cameron. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, ironing and all things involving family and friends. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church a past member of the Ladies Altar Society & Catholic Daughters. Following hurricane Ike, she relocated permanently to Moss Bluff with her youngest daughter Lena and husband Aaron until her brief stay at Landmark of Lake Charles.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents Clara Edwards-Sheard whom she lost at the young age of 8, Her father Hubert Shepard, Husband Louis Joseph (L.J) Hebert, three brothers; Wallace, Mike & Gary Shepard, and her great grandson Garret Duhon.
She is survived by her Brother Harold Shepard of Gadsden County, FL, her four children; Wayne Hebert of Lake Charles, Debra Duhon and husband Joey of Grand Lake, Clifton Hebert and wife Carryl of Bell City, Lena Dronette, and husband Aaron of Moss Bluff.
10 - Grandchildren, 14 - Great-Grandchildren, 3- Great-Great Grandchildren, two nieces; Katey Shepard Hobbs of Sycamore, FL., Christie Shepard McLaughlin of Bainbridge, Ga., and nephew, Hank Shepard of Gadsden County, FL.
The family will welcome the public for visitation at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Rosary led by Roy Nash at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume the following day Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home at 9:00 am until the time of the funeral procession at 10:00am.
A Rosary will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Life Center at 11:30am. Very Reverend Rojo A. Koonathan, V.F., will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Cemetery in Cameron, Louisiana.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the nurses and staff at Landmark of Lake Charles and a special thanks to Ms. Alicia Thompson for the great care and compassion given to our mother.
