Harry was born in Crowley, LA in 1939 and moved to Lake Charles in 1952. Attended LaGrange High and McNeese State University. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S Army Reserve.
He spent most of his professional life in the financial industry having retired from Cameron State Bank in 2011. During his career he served his community through many civic and charitable organizations – President of Lake Charles Credit Bureau, President of Sulphur Rotary Club, Director of West Calcasieu Association of Commerce, Division Chairman of the United Way, Vice-President of Calcasieu Parish Public Trust Authority, Chairman of the Community Housing Resource Board of SWLA, where he created the Homeowners Counseling Center, Director of Habitat for Humanity, and because of the many services he performed for these organizations and the disadvantaged citizens of Southwest Louisiana, he received the 2005 Southwest Louisiana C.A. Downing Humanitarian Award.
Mr. Broussard is survived by his wife Cheryl Broussard; son, Donald Broussard of San Diego, CA; daughter, Susie Broussard of El Mirage, AZ; mother, Beatrice Hebert of Lake Charles; brothers, Jerry Broussard and wife, Linda of Lake Charles and Thomas Broussard and wife, Deanna of Lake Charles; sister, Beatrice Jansen-Brown and husband, Dr. Michael Brown of Bryan, TX; daughter-in-law, Susan Broussard of St. Peter, MO; grandsons, Chris Broussard, Cody Broussard, Joshua Alexander; granddaughters, Laura Ellis and husband, Paul, Kayla Broussard, Hailey Alexander and Hannah Alexander; great granddaughter, Jocelyn Ellis; stepson, Randy Alexander; stepdaughter, Miechelle Alexander; many nieces and nephews and also many wonderful and great friends he has had throughout life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Sr. and son, Clifton Paul Broussard.
His service will be 2pm, Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. The Msgr. Jace Eskind will officiate. Visitation will begin Saturday 4pm-9pm with a scripture service at 6pm and resume Sunday, noon until time of service. Burial will be in Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery.
