Mr. Broussard was a Permanent Deacon for the Diocese of Lake Charles for 24 years at St. Henry’s Catholic Church. Mr. Broussard was retired from P.P.G Industries. His dry humor and quick witted persona were recognizable anytime he entered a room. Mr. Broussard was an immensely talented musician with a rare gift that touched anybody lucky enough to have heard his music. He played in several local bands and recorded with his cousin, Doug Kershaw, in Crowley. Both his witty nature and musical ability were a true blessing to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Nola Jane Bourgeois Broussard; sons, Bishop Wayne Broussard and wife Barbara of LeBleu Settlement, Carl Broussard and wife Julie of Sulphur, LA., Russell Broussard of Lake Charles, LA., and Richard Broussard and wife Deirdre of Lake Charles, LA.; his daughters, Tina Fuselier and husband Douglas of Lake Charles, LA., Deanna Johnson and husband Ron of Lake Charles, LA., and Lynette Sonnier and husband Brian of Lake Charles, LA.; sister, Beverly Trahan of Moss Bluff, LA; 26 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren. He is Preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Severine; brothers, Howard and Warren Broussard; and granddaughters, Andrea and Sara Broussard.
Mr. Broussard’s funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church. Msg. Daniel Torres will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, LA. and will resume at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning until time of service. Scripture Service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2011at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA. Deacon Dan Landry, Bishop Glen John Provost, and Bishop Wayne Broussard will lead scripture service. Burial will follow the service at Lacassine Cemetery.
