Emma Laura "CheeChee" Cole

Rev. David Free and Rev. Norman Ellis will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.

Visitation will be from 5pm – 9pm on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at Magnolia Baptist Church and again from 9 a.m. until time of the service.

Emma Laura, “Chee Chee”, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 25 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Emhouse, Texas to Eula and James Frank Tallant on Oct. 2, 1925.

She had lived in Ragley for 60 years. She was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church and had been the church secretary for over 20 years. She was also a member of Magnolia Chapter #232 Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was a supporter of South Beauregard Athletics and could always be found at the basketball and softball games.She and Outher enjoyed many years of traveling around the country going to Bluegrass festivals. She was a domestic engineer before there was ever such a term. She was the silent strong force in our family and had a big heart in a small body. If you knew “Che Chee”, then you witnessed the love of God.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Earl Cole (Shirley) of Amarillo, TX, David Lee Cole (Ann) of Belle Chasse, LA, Michael Ray Cole (Ellen) of Ragley, LA and one daughter, Casandra Cole Girola (Dino) of Ragley, LA. She had 11 Grandchildren, Thom Frazier-Cole (Joseph), Laurie Cole Holcombe (Coy), Beki Cole Denison, Michael J. Cole (Amanda), Melissa Cole Priest (Alex), Denise Cole Rehm (Gannon), Cherie Cole Naquin (Jeremy), Malia Rae Cole, Lee Thomas Cole, David Girola (Becky), and Eric Girola (Lacy) and 16 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Thomas Tallant of Benbrook, TX and a sister, Nancy Warren of Palestine, TX as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. She is also survived by the long time family friend and her sidekick, Julius Miller.

She was preceeded in death by her husband of 53 years Outher W. Cole, an infant son James Allen Cole, 3 great grandchildren Marcy Priest, Emily Naquin, and Brooks Girola, a daughter in-law Sharon Collins Cole and two brothers, James Ray Tallant and Billy Tallant.
