Edith N. West- It is with great sadness that the family of Edith West announces her passing on January 20, 2013 in her home. Mom was a very loving lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. It is with great sadness that she passed but it is also with great joy for her because she no longer has to suffer and is now reunited in heaven with her husband of 55 years, David and son, Rick. She was born October 24, 1927 in Bogalusa, LA. She lived most of her childhood in Merryville and adulthood in Lake Charles. For over forty years of her life she was a much in demand waitress who told interesting and often humorous stories about serving various celebrities who came to town such as Lorne Green and Michael Landon of Bonanza and playwright Tony Kushner. She is survived by her son, David R. West; daughter, Kathryn Peters and husband, Greg; grandchildren, Samantha Peters, Brandon West and Zackary West; great grandchildren, Eli and Brandon West; brothers, Charles Hammond of Sulphur, Jack Hammond and Lars Hammond both of Merryville; brother-in-law, E.J. West of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David M. West and son, Richard D. West.
Her funeral will be 2pm, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will begin Tuesday 5pm-8pm and resume Wednesday 8am until service time. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
